Local Education Authority
Local Education Authority, also known as LEA that have the influence on the education in England and Wales. In greater London the local education authorities are- the London borough council and the common council of the city of London. These authorities are responsible for the education in the metropolitan counties as well as in the non-metropolitan counties. Recently local education authority has involved in funding process for higher education, known as lea student loans. It is the the lea student loans that can support for the maintenance grants provided to the higher education students. Students are provided with lea student loans with a low interest rate. No other student financial support can provide student loans with such a low interest rate. Generally lea student loans are the fact because of which most of the students are interested to get student loans. The repayment system of lea student loans is same with the other student loans that is student can repay their loans after completing the higher education.
The local education authorities are responsible for various other functions also. They are responsible for funding the schools and monitoring the distribution processes. Local education authorities are also responsible for the allocation of the number of school places. Actually local education authorities are the employers in community as well as VC schools. Local education authorities are also responsible for the achievement of child caring. Local education authorities have the rights which is related to the employment of the teacher and to the discharge of any employer.
Lea student loans are provided to the students of England and Wales. The application of the students are handled by student loans company. But the applications are subjected to agreement by the local education authorities. The students who are eligible for the student loans can claim about seventy five percent of the allocation in spite of the parents and students’ financial condition. The rest of the allocation is offered. The assessment is conducted by local education authority.
Then the application is processed by the student loans company. If the students want to confirm that their cheque reaches to them at the starting of the October then they should be ensured that they can return the assessment form which is concerned with the income by near the beginning of May. But students are suggested to contact with the local education authorities for the confirmation date. Student should remember that they can not apply for the maximum amount at the first academic year. They only can apply for the small amount at first time.
